How I Fell in Love with Videomaking

Originally from Daegu, South Korea, I moved to Canada at the age of 15. The transition was challenging, to say the least. Adapting to a new language and culture wasn’t easy. At first, I was just another Korean kid with thick plastic glasses and a mushroom haircut, feeling lost and uncertain about my purpose in this unfamiliar place. I was stuck in ESL classes, unsure of where I fit in or why I had been brought to Canada.

Everything changed during my junior year of high school when I stumbled upon something that would forever alter my path: video making. It quickly became my safe space, and film class felt like home. I realized that film was the quickest way for me to express myself in a language I was still learning. I spent countless hours editing my thoughts and refining my broken English into cohesive narratives. It felt like discovering a hidden talent—one I hadn’t known I had but always yearned to express.

Through video, I found my voice. Storytelling became my medium to convey emotions, provoke thoughts, and spark change. From that moment on, I was hooked. What began as a journey of personal expression transformed into a lifelong passion for visual storytelling.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse organizations, companies, and individuals, each with their own unique stories to tell. Now, I get to create films and branding work for incredible clients, including hotels, F&B businesses, clinics, car brands, and non-profit organizations. As a self-driven creative, I take pride in handling every aspect of video production, from planning to editing.

But above all, I’m a storyteller at heart, crafting narratives that aim to inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impact. My goal is simple: to harness the power of video to create stories that resonate with audiences and make a meaningful difference.

For the past nine years, I’ve dedicated myself to this craft, grateful every day for the opportunity to do what I love. Looking ahead, my commitment remains unchanged, to continue creating impactful stories that resonate with others and leave a mark on the world.

If you’re interested in learning more or collaborating on a project, I’d be very happy to connect. Let’s create something meaningful together.

Thanks for reading.
